Modern America is such a dystopian place recently, where we’re bombarded by horrible news and manipulative advertisements. The Monotonist draws attention to the absurdities of our daily routines and the societal structures we build, bringing humor to topics that may be hard to swallow and outright depressing on their own, but when paired with comedy, are made more impactful and digestible. This rehearsal process with this amazing cast has been so special and personal. On a shoestring budget we’ve made something meaningful and true, creating a cohesive world with minimal design elements. This is theatre for people by people. I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve made together and I’m excited to share the experience with audiences next week.
